Athletic programs are an integral part of the Olympia School District vision: "a supportive environment which promotes student growth and achievement of the highest standards". Our athletic programs are designed to promote an active and healthy lifestyle through individual and team goal-setting, leadership, sportsmanship and other valuable skills.

The Olympia School District offers a wide variety of activities at both the high school and middle school level. Each athletic program is overseen by a building athletic director with guidance and support from the district Coordinator of Health, Fitness and Athletic Programs. Capital High School is a member of the newly formed 3A Western Cascade Conference comprised of 6 other local high schools while Olympia High School is a member of the 4A Narrows League comprised of schools in the Tacoma and Kitsap areas. In turn, both the WAC and Narrows are one of four member leagues that comprise the West Central District #3 of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.

Our three middle schools participate in the Capital League with schools from Tumwater and Griffin School Districts.

Each school provides a variety of activities with a focus on participation within a learning environment. The league has established a 4 season format allowing students to participate in one activiy each season; fall: football & volleyball; 1st winter, girls basketball & wrestling; 2nd winter, boys basketball & girls soccer; spring, track and field.
